The police have made public four men arrested on the charge of fleecing people under the pretext of a lottery amid a press conference here today.
The arrestees–Akshya Kumar Chaurasiya, Yubaraj Paswashan, Bir Narayan Chaurasiya and Rahul Kumar Raut, all in 18-22 age group from Birgunj Metropolitan City–have been charged with swindling people out of thousands of rupees in the name of a lottery.
It has been found during the investigations that they would call their clients saying that they had won IRs 2.5 million each through a lottery and asked them to deposit IRs 100,000 each in the banks as specified by them in tax. They were arrested from Bhediyahi in Birgunj in the course of withdrawing the money they have got by swindling people, said Superintendent of Police Rewati Dhakal.
In a case, they fleeced IRs 100,000 from a person of Birgunj under the pretext that he had won IRs 2.5 million through a lottery, said Dhakal.
The police also confiscated Rs 100,000 in cash, four mobile phones and ATM cards of various banks from the arrestees.
Efforts were on to file a case against the frauds, said Dhakal.
