NHRC urges govt to save Dr KC

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged the government to pay attention to the health condition of Dr Govinda KC, who is staging a hunger strike for six days, demanding reforms in the medical sector.

Issuing a statement today, NHRC Spokesperson Mohana Ansari has drawn the attention of government toward being serious about the sensitive issues of the human rights raised by protesting Dr KC and save his life by being effortful to implement the agreements made between the senior orthopedic surgeon and the government in the past.

The national human rights watchdog has also urged the concerned authorities to be sensitive towards the rights to health of the public and urged them not to shut down any healthcare services.

Dr KC is on a hunger strike in Jumla. The Commission has written to the District Administration Office, Jumla, to manage medical checkups on the protesting surgeon whose health is deteriorating.

Likewise, senior advocate and Chairperson of Transparency International Nepal, Hari Aryal in a statement Thursday demanded that Dr KC’s life should be saved by addressing his demands.
