KATHMANDU: Nepal’s famous rock-folk band, Nepathya, has released a music video for ‘Gaun Gaun Bata Utha’, on Wednesday.

The song written and composed by Shyam Tamot is reflective of the democratic movement during Panchayat regime that prevailed in Nepal under the direct monarchy for 30 years during 1960-1990.

Nepathya has now officially released the song in all known virtual stores from iTunes to GooglePlay and Spotify.

The band’s lead singer Amrit Gurung recalls the words of encouragement and appreciation from Ramesh Dai and Manjul Dai after witnessing Nepathya perform this song during peace concert tour.

Lyricist Shyam Tamot said, “I am impressed by the way Nepathya has embraced this song as their own and used it to campaign for peace and education. Their unique style of performing has helped this song and its message to reach a wider audience.”

The video is a compilation of different footage captured during Nepathya’s live performances in Nepal and abroad.

Gurung is currently accompanied by Dhruba Lama on drums, Suraj Thapa on keyboards, Subin Shakya on bass, Niraj Gurung on guitars and Shanti Rayamajhi on madal.
