Former prime minister and leader of Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Jhala Nath Khanal has had parathyroid and kidney stone surgeries at Sichuan International Hospital in China.
Parathyroid surgery is removal of one or more of four parathyroid glands if they secrete excess parathyroid hormone which regulate the calcium levels in the body. Excess parathyroid hormone increases the blood calcium level removing it from the bones causing multiple problems in the body including kidney stones, according to parathyroid.com.
He is currently recovering at the hospital after surgery. He had gone to China for treatment in May and the doctors had prescribed the surgeries even then. He had gone to China for the surgeries on Sunday.
