The Dharan Sub-metropolis has planned the funeral procession of the late mayor Tara Subba for Saturday. The 52-year-old mayor passed away in course of treatment of pneumonia caused by a strong strain of infectious agent in the Kathmandu-based Grande Hospital on Tuesday. His mortal body has been presently kept at the mortuary of the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.
The body will be brought to the ground of Public High School based in Dharan-12 after 11:30 am Saturday where the Dharan locals will give him a final adieu, as stated by Sub Metropolis chief administrative officer Suman Ghimire.
His funeral procession will pass through major chowks in the town before he will be laid to the rest as per the customary rituals at the forest area belonging to the Hariyali Community Forest Consumers’ Group based in Dharan-18.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel and other leaders from the capital are set to arrive here to pay last tributes to the late mayor, according to deputy mayor Manju Bhandari.
The late mayor was the patient of diabetes for long. People close to him say increasing work load on him and his busy schedule after being elected the chief of local government had caused adverse impacts on his health. He was elected on the post on the CPN-UML ticket.
The post of mayor at the Dharan Sub-metropolis has turned vacant with his demise. Likewise, the post of ward chair at Dharan-6 has been lying vacant since the demise of ward chair Bhuwan Moktan.
