KATHMANDU: Nepal’s popular folk-rock band, Nepathya, who had gone to two-city US concert, have wrapped up their tour by visiting Nepali language class run by Nepali diaspora in Boston.
Before the show at the Royale Boston, the band visited a Nepali language class, run by a group of enthusiastic volunteers on the premises of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, for the Nepali children living in the area.
The band started their show with popular classic numbers like Aganai bhari, Chekyo Chekyo, Jomsom Bazaar, Udayo railaile, Taal ko pani, including new songs likes Koshiko Paani and Sirfula and patriotic numbers like Hami Nepali, Gaun Gaun Bata Utha and Jangi Nishan among others.
Band’s lead singer Amrit Gurung said, “It is so nice to see so many Nepali flowers blossoming in this distant land. I am also elated to see you so enthusiastic to learn your mother tongue. You will realize the value of it when you visit Nepal. This will enable you to communicate with your grandparents and other residing in Nepal.”
Gurung further urged the parents to speak the Nepali language with their kids at home so that they can horn their language skills after spending four hours in weekend class.
“I am truly encouraged by the endorsement Amrit dai expressed for our effort to run the Nepali language class” said Samjhana Gurung of Tamu Samaj, one of the organisers of the show.
With the Boston show, the band wrapped up their two-city tour of the United States and have left for Nepal.
