Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Jyoti Prakash Joshi passed away last night at his Baiyabehadi-based residence in Dhangadhi at the age of 78.
He, the founder of the Nepali Congress, Bajhang, had been long suffering from heart disease. He served as the NC Bajhang district president for 20 years and had actively participated in various movements launched for restoration of democracy in the country. He was jailed for frequent times in Bajhang and Kailali for his involvement in the democratic movements.
He is survived by his spouse, one daughter and three sons. His last rites were performed at the local Mohana river Ghat Sunday, his son Surya Prakash Joshi said. NC leader NP Saud, NC Dadeldhura President Karna Bahadur Malla, and NC Kaiali President Nar Narayan Shah paid their last respects to the late leader.
