Kathmandu, June 5
Nepal APF Club defeated Nepal Police Club in straight sets to maintain the lead at the top of the table of the fourth NVA-RBB National Women’s Club League Volleyball Championship here today.
APF registered a 25-22, 25-17, 25-15 victory over departmental rivals to accumulate six points from two matches. Tribhuvan Army Club registered double victories to earn six points and they are second in the table. TAC, who had faced a straight-set defeat against APF on the opening day, defeated Padmodaya Youth Club 25-18, 25-11, 25-17 and returned to beat Jawalakhel Volleyball Training Centre 25-5, 25-8, 25-7.
In another match, Shivam New Diamond Academy defeated JVTC 25-10, 25-10, 25-9. NDA and NPC have three points each. A total of six teams are taking part in the league-cum-knockout tournament organised by Nepal Volleyball Association under the sponsorship of Rastriya Banijya Bank.
Top four teams will make it to the semi-finals after the round robin league. Top team will play against fourth-placed side, while second and third placed teams will contest for berths in the final.
The winners of the tournament will be richer by Rs 200,000, while the runners-up will receive Rs 100,000. The third and fourth placed teams will earn Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. The best player of the tournament will get Rs 25,000, whereas the six best individuals – spiker, setter, blocker, server, defender and coach – will earn Rs 5,000 each.
