Kathmandu, May 28
National cricket team vice-captain Gyanendra Malla has been appointed the brand ambassador of eSewa, Nepal’s first online payment gateway.
Malla and Biswas Dhakal, President of F1 Soft International, signed the memorandum of understanding without disclosing the terms and conditions. “We are grateful to Malla for accepting our request to be the brand ambassador of eSewa,” said Dhakal.
Malla thanked eSewa for trusting in him. “eSewa has been associated with cricket for a long time through various programmes. It had endorsed two of our players after the 2014 Twenty20 World Cup Qualifiers and eSewa has been contributing in Nepali cricket,” said Malla, who urged corporate houses to support athletes.
“Not only cricketers, there are so many athletes who needs support. I would like to request the private sector to invest in sports and make contribution from your part as well,” added Malla. “I have got the support from eSewa and I think received the incentive for my contribution in the sport. If we get supports like this, we can fully dedicate ourselves in sports,” said Malla.
Chief Operating Officer of eSewa, Roshan Lamichhane informed the agreement was for one year. “We cannot reveal the amount but we will be providing the support to Malla on monthly basis,” said Lamichhane adding that the company was planning to take in various individuals from different sectors as brand ambassadors.
