KATHMANDU: Ashab Hada and Nuben Limbu entered the U-8 boys’ singles final of the first IME-JTI Grand Junior Open Lawn Tennis Tournament here at the Naulin Sports Villa on Sunday.
Hada defeated Sanjay Roka 10-3, 10-3, while Limbu beat Adrit Nepal 10-8, 12-10 to make it to the final.
In girls’ section, Samragi Lama defeated Pranjan Manandhar 10-8, 12-10 and Shivali Gurung beat Ayusha GC 10-5, 10-7 to enter the final.
Likewise, Nishad Joshi and Boris Adhikari advanced to the U-9 boys’ singles final, while Saibi Dhakal, Samriddhi Maharjan, Nala Maskey and Pratistha Lama made it to the girls’ section semi-finals.
In boys’ U-14 category, Pratham Poudel, Sriyas Poudel, Kubehang Chemjong, Ayushman Nepal, Pritam Pariyar and Chirag Timalsina registered victories to enter the quarter-finals, while Aryan Giri and Bibek Joshi earned byes.
Also, Prakrit Shrestha advanced to the U-14 girls’ quarter-finals.
A total of 93 players are taking part in the event organised by IME Foundation.
